Golf in Africa is a passion for both locals and tourists. With numerous golf courses throughout the country, it becomes easy for tourists to combine a golfing vacation with a safari or beach holiday – or do both. South Africa is a golfer's paradise and houses some of the world's finest golf courses.

You don't have to be a seasoned player. Most golf clubs have professional trainers for you to learn. The breathtaking courses, excellent attractions, and palm-lined beaches with exotic bird songs make it impossible not to tee off on the unique continent.

Here are a couple of golf courses in the second oldest city of Stellenbosch in the Western Cape province. The town is famous for several reasons, including wine, food, art, museums, restaurants, and culture. It is a beautiful city and attracts lots of tourists each year.

Devonvale Golf has hosted several challenges at both national and international levels. The Devonvale Golf Wine Estate is 5 minutes beyond Stellenbosch and surrounded by rolling vineyards and majestic mountains. Ken Elkin initially designed the magnificent 18-hole 72-par world-class championship golf course, which later has seen many upgrades.

Devonvale course won the LIA Environmental Management Water Conservation Trophy for best practice water conservation in 2006. The 6136-metre course is a tree-lined curving with sweeping fairways.

De Zalze Winelands golf estate:

The De Zalze golf club lies in the middle of a beautiful valley on the outskirts of Stellenbosch. The golf club is so named because of the three adjoining wine-producing farms by Groote Zalze, Kleine Zalze De Vleie. Designed by Peter Matkovich, the golf course has everything that would make the visitors comfortable. There is a pro shop where you can rent golf carts, sticks, and more.

The golf club opened as Spier Country Club in 2000 but changed in 2003 during the initiation of the new clubhouse. Today, De Zalze is one of the most famous golf courses in the region. The 18 holes 72 par golf course is 5937 metres in length. The course blends oak trees and parkland holes, making it ideal for players of all levels.
