During the winter months, when the waves are at their largest, the beach at Mile Marker 9 becomes a surfer's and windsurfer's paradise. Although only the most skilled surfers should go into the ocean, spectators may get a great view of the action from a nearby overlook.

Waikamoi Ridge Hiking Route

This unpopular hiking route begins 9.5 miles after passing through Ho'okipa. The 0.8-mile circular track may be completed in approximately 30 minutes, and there is an additional extension of a similar length for those who like to explore more of the beautiful old-growth forest. Wear shoes that can handle the mud if you go there.

Arboretum and Botanical Garden of Maui's Garden of Eden

At Mile Marker 10.5, you'll find a 26-acre garden with more than two miles of pathways winding through beautiful landscaping. If you go to one of the vantage points, you may see Keopuka Rock, which was included in the movie "Jurassic Park" as the first thing the visitors to the island of Isla Nublar saw.

There is a lava tube in Hana

The Hana Lava Tube, a cave created by a volcanic eruption, may be reached by taking a left at Mile Marker 31 onto dordle Ulaino Road. If you plan on doing a self-tour, remember to carry a flashlight.

City of Hana

Hana is a sleepy coastal hamlet that has stayed mostly unaltered for decades. Although some visitors choose to spend the night, this is also a great spot to stop and get some exercise if you're doing the whole out-and-back Road to Hana journey in a single day. Spend some time basking in the sun on the beach or taking a brief trip to the flower farm Hana Tropicals.
