Indian drama serials are full of stereotypes. Either the hero-heroine have major hatred for each other or some cunning mother-in-law is present to ruin their happiness!

Here are a few things that need to Udaariyaan Written Update be fixed in our Indian shows! Let’s start fixing them: 1. Stop glorifying harassment. It’s not funny.
1. Change the Storyline

A good storyline can elevate any Indian drama serial. But sadly, makers often use the same story to get more TRP. It’s either a love story or a heroine who gets harassed by her inlaws to marry the guy. This needs to change!

Humsafar enthralled the nation and made stars Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan skyrocket to fame. It also told a deep and moving story of love, jealousy and loss. A must-watch! This shows how a great story can make up for any budget.
2. Change the Characters

The storyline of Indian serials used to be more women oriented but in a race to gain TRPs, they stopped short of portraying the issues faced by women. These issues include molestation, domestic violence, power struggle and inequality. These are issues that need to be highlighted and not petty family squabbles, vamps conspiring against other woman and fighting with mother-in-laws.

Also, they need to stop glorifying harassment in the name of getting more TRPs. Isn’t it a bit unrealistic to show heroine turning into grandmother with just a few white hair on the head and a little change in the dress? This system of rapidly churning out episodes everyday is stifling creativity. It is time for some fresh thinking in Indian serials. Stop glorifying cliches and bring in something new.
3. Change the Setting

Indian drama serials should stop showing too much violence, family disputes and arguments. It is not good for audience’s mental health and they get disturbed. It also makes them look at their own culture in a negative way. It should show more comedy and talk shows.

This Indian tv serial was one of the most popular ones. It depicted the story of two cousin sisters. One was a simple girl who valued the small things in life and the other was bold and ambitious. They loved each other.

4. Change the Music

Indian soaps have a tendency to reflect and glorify conservative ideas. They often show the saas-bahu drama with a heroine who is always being harassed by her in-laws or by her husband’s parents. Whether it’s a silly daily soap or a supposedly progressive show like Anupamaa, the sexism is all too obvious. It’s time to stop glorifying harassment and start writing some good stories.

Even when a lead heroine turns mother or grandma, she doesn’t change much. Her looks remain the same. She just gets a few more wrinkles and maybe some white hair here and there. Is it really that difficult to find some new music for these shows?
5. Change the Actors

Women’s issues are much more than saas-bahu relationships, fighting with mother-in-laws and competing for love. Indian serials should depict serious problems that women face on a daily basis like molestation, domestic violence, inequality and power struggle.

Women have to fight against their husbands and inlaws for their children. It is not right to glorify harassment. It is important for writers to understand that looks change with age.

Another important issue is showing too many family disputes, arguments and shouting in serials. This can disturb the audience’s mind and affect their mental health. It can also insult Indian religions, culture, traditions, customs, principle, self-esteem and limits. This would cause non-Indian society to have a negative view of the Indian society. This is why it is essential to stop all the unnecessary noise and disturbance in serials. Also, serials should not be run for too long as it loses audience’s interest.
7. Change the Caste System

In India, the caste system continues to operate through national quotas for government jobs and universities. This system essentially gives lower-caste communities affirmative action. But a 2012 film called 'Shudra: The Rising' highlighted several problems with it.

Some caste theorists present a biological explanation for the stratification of India's social hierarchy, arguing that certain traits — wisdom and intelligence, pride and passion — are inherent. Others argue that the system is a form of oppression that goes back centuries and prevents people from changing their lives.

In the US, many Indian Americans who CNN spoke to recounted experiencing both overt and covert discrimination based on their caste. They pointed to workplace conversations, roommate listings and cultural events where caste bias played out. They also spoke of family decisions that rely on caste. Those who aren't born into privilege often find it difficult to break free from those attitudes.
8. Change the Storyline

The rapid pace at which Indian TV serials are churned out every day is stifling creativity. In the race for TRPs, new twists are introduced as quickly as possible, and characters are given “leaps” after leaps. This is an endless cycle that can’t possibly satisfy audiences.

The same story is repeated in almost every serial – either it’s a love story where the guy marries a girl by harassing her or a drama about how inlaws can’t accept a bride. It is time to stop glorifying harassment. Experiment with different ideas and try to make a show that young people and intellectuals can watch.
9. Change the Format

Changing the format of an Indian drama serial can be a great way to make it more interesting. For example, by limiting the number of episodes or making it a limited-edition series, you can give it a fresh start. This will also help keep the audience engaged.
