When most of us who run small businesses think of the opportunities to boost sales that come along later in the year, we are probably put most in mind of the Christmas period, and the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales events that effectively mark the beginning of the festive shopping season.

By contrast, Halloween on 31st October can sometimes slightly pass us by. That might be particularly the case for you if there isn’t an obvious connection between Halloween celebrations and what your business sells or offers.

Understandably, then, you might have found yourself in a position – with Halloween quickly looming – of not having bothered to do any Halloween-oriented decorating of your firm’s building or shopfront. But if you want to tap into the more than £1 billion of Halloween spending that is expected from people in the UK in 2023, failing to visibly acknowledge the occasion at your premises might not be a brilliant idea.

So, let’s consider a few ways you could decorate your business premises for Halloween, even if you’re short of time and it has to be a literal “afternoon job”.

Decorate your business’s windows with Halloween items

You might have noticed that in this blog post, we haven’t made any particular reference to our advice being aimed at retail businesses, or office-based businesses, or any other kind of company. And the reason for that is, almost any type of business can conceivably decorate its premises in fun and suitably “spooky”-looking ways for Halloween.

Consider, for example, the windows of your business site that face out onto the public street. There’s a clear opportunity here for a retailer to create something artful that will catch the eyes of passers-by, perhaps combining the store’s normal products with vaguely “Halloween-y”, but also easy-to-find items, such as tree branches, pumpkins, and fake spiders and spider webs.

To complete the effect, you could have the windowsills strewn with some colour mix shredded kraft paper from our own Halloween Collection, such as our Witch Mix Straight Cut, Pumpkin Mix Zig Zag, or (S)lime Halloween Zig Zag papers

Drape everyday items over the furniture and fittings

One of the great things about Halloween-themed decorations – whether used at a business premises, or even at home – is that it’s hardly something that needs to be overly expensive or complicated to do. Indeed, you might have more fun simply being resourceful with certain random items you can discover around the place or back home.

You might have some unused white bedsheets, for instance, that you could drape over chairs or tables in your workplace to help create that suitably “spooky” feel. Or you could cut some eyeholes in one of those sheets and put it over a coat hanger, before hanging it from the ceiling, and there you have it – an instant “ghost”!

The likes of bookshelves and mirrors can also lend themselves nicely to having “spooky” things – such as garlands, wreaths, “demon” light strings, and our own Halloween colour mix shredded kraft paper – “randomly” strewn over them.

Introduce pumpkin-themed elements across the décor

The pumpkin is one of the inevitable motifs associated with Halloween – and the great thing when it comes to Halloween-themed business decorations, is that the motif is enough.

You don’t necessarily need to have literal pumpkins in your firm’s windows; you could have turnips if you wanted, or even just create some pumpkin-shaped stickers, or add orange accents to various parts of your business premises. And of course, our own Pumpkin Mix Straight Cut colour mix shredded kraft paper is highly versatile as a way of evoking pumpkin themes.

Anyway, you hopefully get the idea by now; you can definitely do a lot to conjure up that scary Halloween-y vibe in your workplace over the coming days leading up to Halloween, even if you don’t have much immediately to hand. And with express delivery available for our own shredded papers courtesy of DPD, you could have your order from us in your hands even sooner than you think.
